[ARCHIVED] Motor vehicle crash with building

The Danville Fire Department responded to a report of a motor vehicle crash involving a building at 872 Paxton St. Apt. 5 on Monday afternoon ( January 24, 2022)  at 4:49 pm. Crews arrived on scene with in 3 mins to find a work van had run into the building. Ladder 1 from Lynn St Fire Station arrived on scene first and investigated to find the van almost completely inside of Apt 5. The driver of the van was not injured and was able to get out of the van through the back door. There were no occupants inside the apartment at the time of the incident. 

There were two apartment units that sustained heavy structural damage requiring the units to be condemned. Both apartment units that received damage were not occupied at the time of the incident, and there were no injuries.

The Danville Fire Department initially responded with 3 Engines, 1 Ladder Truck, and 3 support vehicles. 18 fire personnel were on scene for about a hour and thirty minutes. The Danville Life Saving crew, Danville Police Department, and Danville Electric Department assisted on scene.
