The Danville Police Department is pleased to offer Reimagining Juvenile Justice training during a six-week course each Wednesday from 1-5 p.m. beginning Feb. 1 through March 8.

Participants will engage in hands-on learning experiences during the no-cost training, and receive a certificate upon completion. In order to receive a certificate, participants must commit to being present at all six sessions.

During the six-week period, participants will learn more about community engagement, making mental connections, positive youth development, racial and ethnic equity and inclusion, engaging youth voices, fostering positive family relationships, what a cross-systems approach is to youth services and how to use it, and transforming policies and practice.

“How we engage with youth today is entirely different compared to how youth from 10, 20 and even 30 years ago interacted within the community. Through this program, we’re offering a fresh perspective to change how we think about our youth,” said Ashtyn Foddrell, community liaison.

Space for the program is limited to 25 spots. Click here to register. Registration will be open from Monday, Jan. 9, through Friday, Jan. 27. Anyone from the community who may work with youth is welcome to attend.
